PILLARS OF MADNESS was first conceptualized as a local interest piece for the Mohawk Valley Historical Society.  Through research and development, the  creators  discovered a wealth of knowledge to be observed through the lens of the Utica State Hospital (“Old Main”).  We discovered that the shuttered hospital campus represents more than just a regional landmark or a cultural curiosity.  “Old Main” represents America’s long-standing and ever-changing discourse on philosophy and public health. Through exhaustive historical research and journalistic diligence, Oh, Penny! Pictures is prepared to be the tellers of this rich and compelling story.
